Pakistan Railways Assistant Driver (BPS-09) – 417 Posts | Nationwide Hiring 2026

Pakistan Railways is seeking applications from eligible male citizens of Pakistan for the position of Assistant Driver (BPS-09) on a purely contract basis. A substantial number of 417 vacancies are available across various divisions including Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Sukkur, Quetta, and Karachi.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the locomotive driver in ensuring safe and efficient train operations.
• Perform pre-departure checks on critical train systems.
• Monitor and respond to wayside signals and speed restrictions.
• Maintain accurate logbooks and operational records.
• Assist in emergency response situations and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Participate in shunting and marshalling operations.

Educational Requirements:

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications:

• Matric (Science, 2nd Division) plus a 3-year Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) (2nd Division) in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Information Technology, or Automobile engineering from a recognized institution.
• F.Sc (Pre-Engineering, 2nd Division) with a completed 3-month computer course from a recognized institute.
• Intermediate in Computer Science (ICS, 2nd Division).

Age Limit and Relaxation:

The age limit is 18-25 years, with a general age relaxation of 5 years. Additional age relaxations are applicable as per government rules for specific categories.

Selection Process:

The selection will be based on a written test (70% weightage) and an interview (30% weightage).
